I actually recently bought a new camera that was released in the current year, but I already have a variety of lenses for that system, so the purchase was not really... a big deal.
Could I buy a Nikon Z6ii? Sure, but I wouldn't want to. I have no F mount lenses, and I have a meh feeling on Z mount overall.
Could I buy a Nikon Z6 with the 24-70 f/4 as a kit? Yes, but... why would I? Plus there's no way to change focus ring direction with that body. You have to get the Z6 if you want anticlockwise to infinity.
I think the bigger concern isn't buying a body - budget for it, and anyone on a reasonable salary can afford to make a big purchase like that each quarter. It's your investment into a system - buying a Z6, body only, isn't a smart idea when you have no Nikon glass. And the idea of being only able to afford a prime or an f/4 zoom isn't really all that appealing either.
