I'm partial to Canon. But if Sony is the system you want to be in, then that's a great camera and lens. I like that you're going based high resolution FF.

desu I don't even know what "big leap" would make you want a new body, IQ is that good.

I bought the Sony 100-400mm new and later got the 70-200 2.8 when a used one appeared at the local store. Completely satisfied with both. FYI, the 70-200 works well with either the 1.4x or 2x converter. The 100-400 + 2x combination is not recommended.

Also the 50mm 1.2 is an incredible lens when you get there.
