Ideally for lightroom. Obviously the real deal is best and the the Fuji jpegs look great. What's everyone else using?

The only difference I see is that the reds are less saturated. Don't know what makes it 'film'. The DR is barely any different.

honestly man, fuck lightroom. the only good thing it has is the catalogue.
it adds the same exact grain pattern over your shots, noone seems to care cause it hasnt changed since i started using it in like 8.2...
so once you have a few of your uncropped processed shots next to each other, it just looks like they all have a shitty stock grain overlay.
theres also a few issues with its color processing, especially if you want to do things a bit more drastic.
sorry for the tl;dr, but i just ended up using resolve for the looks

I just mess with the HSL sliders and spend a lot of time tweaking the grain amount, roughness, size, etc. so it's optimized for each photo. Adding grain can make some photos appear sharper in my experience but you have to get the size just right.

x100v shot raw, 1/125, f2, iso3200, promist 1/2
minor exposure correction in lightroom, export to jpeg and then straight to davinci resolve (99% of the color grading) with dehancer (the final "push", grain, extra halation, etc.)
its incredibly time consuming, but i do enjoy the results much more than i ever did with any other software

RNI5 is not all that bad, the profiles they include can be useful, but it inherently has the same problems as any other lightroom film preset pack. lightroom is just shit for any serious color processing...

Have some more samples? I was thinking about Davinci but never checked if it worked on still images, so this sounds nice. I currently use darktable, I can get some nice results

I've got RNI5 (Lite version) and been as happy as you can be. They're not for everyone.

I use the profiles as a starting point to get a consistent vibe and because I honestly hate editing.

But they're pretty spenny, so if cost is an issue I think you could spend money better elsewhere.

grain is dynamic it doesnt show like that in the brighter areas, its not uniform. also cool digital blown highlights on the window.

we need to go back to CCD bros, CCD and REAL old school Foveon, srs this is not it.

It's not supposed to look like an actual traditional film slide, more like an exaggerated art piece. And in that regard I think his pictures are excellent. i'm considering adding a slight grain texture and a very slight unsharp mask to increase perceived sharpness.
i want to avoid anything that anyone might feel is "too much". that said, i'm aware the edits currently are sometimes over-the-top or just silly. it's a work in progress!
