Gonna be honest with you op there's nothing you could have done to save it. The subject (cranes) is not powerful. The background is dull. There is a shitload of uninteresting pavement roads and whatnot in the foreground so at least you could have zoomed or shot closer to not have that. My advice:

Whats the subject OP? With a phone you'll do composition so you might want to get a subject, learn the rule of thirds, and learn the basics of what makes a photo interesting.

The idea resolves around the moon, which is barely visible yet seemingly so close to the right crane. When you then look at the pavement, it seems as though the moon didn't just reflect the sunlight but also beamed its own colors onto the surface.

Try to get closer to the base of the crane for a more interesting shot or crop it, its less busy and you can notice the moon and reflections more.

There is no composition in the original. Trying to frame the curvature of the road with the crane and light posts is your best bet.

Would think that a horizontal would have worked better here
The Crop is just to give you an odea, obviously walking beyond the street sign would have been better for this
Could have used the construction barriers as foreground

You could have not taken the photo. Seriously.

The discipline to realize sometimes a shot is just okay and prevent yourself from taking it is something you have to build up with time and experience. The fact that you took this photo and then posted it here demonstrates how much you have to grow. Shoot more and prosper brother.

You could have rotated your phone and could have moved closer to the craned so that the crap in the foreground would not be visible

Anon, samshit phones shoot horrible photos in their normal camera. So do all the rest.
You need to download a third party camera app that'll shoot RAW DNG and then you edit that in an editor, like Darktable.

Your fucking cranes have white outlines around all the metal and the moon has a black outline due to the extreme fake post-process sharpening your phone is doing. You need to stop using your stock camera app and JPEG mode.
