>>3990862The fp L having the Sony A7RIV sensor was a stopgap because they had R&D issues trying to make a digital 35mm foveon sensor.
Initially, they were going to go with the foveon fp, but what happened was that mass production trials fucked up and they were left with a failed sensor.
The solution was to quickly put together an fp with an existing bayer sensor, tweak the colour science and just have it be ready. That's how we got the fp L.
Planned "upgrades" like webcam mode, USB power supply and the EVF were already in the works, so were implemented.

Through a dedicated video/cine mode, the ability to output direct to SSD and also internal Cinema DNG raw video recording, not forgetting external recording for ProRes RAW and BRAW, the fp set itself up as a true compact cinema camera. Let's not forget Sigma's L-Mount to PL adaptor, which gives the camera the ability to mount a cinema lens.
