I still have my K-7. That was a golden era for digital Pentax, absolutely blowing out anything Canon or Nikon was offering at the same price points.

Yes. Especially by modern standards it starts looking awful even around ISO 800. Mine is nostalgic for me, but if anyone actually wants to buy a cheap old Pentax than get at least a K-5 or newer.

I sold my old Rebel T1i with the kit lens, a plastic fantastic 50mm 1.8 II, a Neewer flash, bag, and macro rings for like $150 pre-pandemic.

It can't hold a candle to what I'm using now, but I captured a lot of memories with that camera. Maybe I'm sentimental.

If money is no object there are plenty of modern high resolution cameras that are better for what you're planning on doing.

But 36.3 MP is no slouch. When it came out back in the day the d800 was an extreme drive filler because of the file sizes of the pics.

I still have about 95% of the cameras I've obtained through my life, but I wish I had kept at least one Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim.

Found about 5 of these at thrift stores for $1 over the years and sold all of them.

I thought it was going to be a meme but it really did take very nice looking pictures.
It got ruined in my bag because I had a bunch of protein powder in a jar that spilled out and filled the camera with proteans

Canonfag here: it's hard to beat a used D800, D800E, or D810 on price/performance. And yes, they are definitely capable of big prints.

In Canonland you're looking at a used 5Ds/sR, or a new 5DsR while B&H still has them.

Newer cameras have more fps, animal butthole AF, video, and IBIS. But they're not going to be much better, if any better, when it comes to big print IQ.

This is one of mine also. Not really sold, but I gave it to a friend to use on a multi year trip. He's been shooting a lot with it so I'm glad it is getting the use it deserves. I hope the get it back some day but no biggie. I regret selling the other one I had too. Now I have no mju. It's probably the best feeling in-hand snapshit camera ever. Fits in a jeans pocket. Just amazing.
My other one I miss is the Pentax Q. The original one with smaller sensor and prime lens. Just a joy to hold and work with. I think I am seeing a pattern here.

I have an a7riv and a7iii, so it feels a little redundant and I know as much as I loved the a7, I'd still use the newer versions due to the better evf and battery.

How to focus wide open with a rangefinder if the rangefinder patch isn't where I want the focus to be?

Say I'm shooting a portrait close up at f/2.

I focus on the eyes with the rangefinder, but then I recompose the image and the focal plane obviously shifts (the patch is not on the eyes anymore).

How do I keep the focus on the eyes if the focal plane isn't parallel to the film plane and the rangefinder patch is off center?

jeez I'm having a really hard time explaining this... hopefully the image conveys what I'm trying to say!

btw this is not a huge problem for me since i rarely shoot below f/8 and I zone focus like 90% of the time when I'm shooting on my Leica and it's near impossible to miss focus like that...

sometimes I do wanna shoot a portrait of a friend up close and I often miss focus...

Zone focus is less than ideal for shooting shallow depth of field imo, to try and really nail it with low f numbers id try to get one of those little attachable rangefinders to try and get the distance as close as possible.

If you’re shooting at that angle and you want the whole head in focus you might need to stop down your f number but f/8 should be more than enough for a subjects head?

Oh reading your comment again i missed your question completely, if you’re tilting down from the position you measured at initially your range finder from, you’re probably getting a longer path length, so reduce the distance on the zone focusing slightly to try and account for that difference in the object plane

I sold my X-Pro 2 to fund an X-T4 and it was the worst gear decision I have ever made in my life. That camera was perfect. Absolutely gorgeous to use. The X-T4 was utter fucking shit for anything that wasn’t video. Terrible to hold, too heavy for it’s size, bloated ass bastard child of an X-H1 and an X-T2/3.

I’ve tried recapturing my love for that camera with an X100V… but it’s just not the same. :-(

RB67 Pro SD with Seikor C 50mm 4.5 lens, the lens has amazing resolution for a lens with 80mm+ image circle, and the rotating back design of the body is just a joy to use in the field. Sold it five years ago, because I thought Sony A7 with old PC Nikkor 28mm is the way to go for architecture. Also the time I sold it was just before the Mamiya RB/RZ systems' price got sky rocketed. I'm regretted af now...

I have rectified my mistake and my life is whole again. Part of me lusts for an x-pro3, but honestly, for strictly photography the x-pro2 is as good a camera as I’d ever need for the rest of my life.

Not a camera, but I regret selling my Nikkor 58mm f1.4 G lense, all the hype the lens had was real.
Sadly it was not weather sealed and to many times I was not able to shoot with that lens.

Olympus OM-1. The meter went out on it and it was kind of a pain to constantly use an external meter or sunny17, so I sold it and got a Minolta XG-9. The Olympus was such a lightweight, well built machine and it took fantastic pictures. I miss that little guy. My local shop has an Olympus OM-2s Program that i'm thinking of picking up

I laugh at all of the supposed faults and failings of this camera; none of them bother me a jot. I got a good deal on a second-hand body-and-lens outfit and I haven't looked back. - So, in the spirit of tomorrow's world-wide climate crisis rally, pic related was shot at last year's gig with my f2 28mm Nikkor married to my DF.
