>>3997846The T5 isn't worthless. It sounds like you want a stabilized fast standard zoom. Something versatile, capable in low light, capable of doing group shots, street, portraits, landscapes, etc...
For me, the price and quality of the fast standard zoom is the main concern for any camera system. Luckily EF-S has three options, and easily the cheapest in the category. Based on some information I've seen on this board regarding autofocus compatibility, I suggest the Canon 17-55 f/2.8. It's ~$400 used.
I'd pass on the superzoom. They don't have the low light versatility or image quality of a fast std zoom.
If that's all too rich, one of the cheapest lenses for EF-S is the 24mm f/2.8 STM. ~$100, tiny, sharp, close-focusing, and much more versatile on APS-C than a 50mm or 35mm.
If you buy the glass and still feel like the T5 is limiting, there's plenty of EF-S cameras out there. Seriously, though – a fast, stabilized std zoom will boost your hit rate 500% over a kit lens or an f/1.8 prime.
