Too many good features, really all the best aspects of Olympus. Some of the early reviews put it way ahead of the em1 III for tracking moving subjects, and the high iso noise performance seems greatly improved as well.

I know RF glasses are expensive af atm but just adapt a Tamron 24-70 G1 or even the 24-70 sigma and it'll outperform every single M43 native glasses

Also my question. No one will migrate from Canikony mirrorless to Olympus mirrorless. They can target zoomers new to video and even boomers who wants smaller lenses.

I seriously doubt that they apply any real NR to their RAW output. Manufacturers sometimes flirt with small amounts of non-detail destroying NR for RAW, but nothing more.

That said: no detail, backlit, high ISO crops mean nothing to me. I'll wait for DPReview to run their studio scene tests.

Everyone fixates on the CFA because they don't understand that the CFA biases each pixel towards a primary color. It does not hard filter each pixel. Digital sensors consistently resolve at or very near their Nyquist limits. Not 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4. The only situation where resolution would drop to 1/2 (green) or 1/4 (red or blue) would be when placing a narrow band filter over the lens, limiting the light passing through to a single primary near the peak of the CFA filter for said primary.

You're being retarded. Bayer shits on resolution by design, your "muh doesn't cut off perfectly" is irrelevant, if you cared at all about the truth.

Sure if you're shooting grey or white shit with no color in it you can get somewhere between 60-90% of the resolution with the bayer compared to full RGB samples, but when actual color is involved, it goes to shit.
Bright reds next to bright blues? Lol. Your smooth rolloff means neither pixels are truly accurately capturing anything at all, and at best you're left with moire and weird artifacts instead of true detail.
When viewing 1:1 in anything but passthrough you're viewing interpolated pixels. The only reason why bayer is even considrered acceptable is because of the nyquist limit and lack of 100 MTF in other areas.

There's a wide body of data on sensor resolution available online. Imaging Resource alone provided detailed resolution testing of all the cameras they reviewed for over a decade. Bayer sensors consistently resolve to within 5% of their Nyquist limits. They are often within 1-2%. That's a verifiable fact derived from repeatable testing. Testing you could actually repeat on the cameras you own if you weren't an idiot.

All of these tests involve lenses, and you would expect a 1-5% loss from the lens itself. Bayer has virtually no impact on resolution outside of the conditions I stated, and only a small impact on sharpness (per comparisons with monochrome converted sensors).

The point is that bayer photosites do not effectively sample the luminance, nor the color. They're incapable of either by design. You can't have both, unfiltered sensors can effectively do luminance. Not bayer.
Now whether the current bayer situation is... good enough? Sure. When video is chroma subsampled and compressed? And when JPEGs are 8x8 chunks of blocky goodness and unsharp masked to all hell and back by normies and most photo software? Yeah, it's perfectly good enough in the sense normies won't riot, but that does not mean you're right and that bayer has no negatives.

Digital sensors are gonna get better and people will see sharper photos as a result, even using old glass. Downsampling 40MP bayer to 10MP will result in much sharper images compared to native 10MP bayer.

Foveon is a scam, it is good in theory and built upon a solid concept but it is advertised totally wrong. Sigma literally calls a 20MP sensor 60MP and that is not okay.

The human visual system is connected to meat which processes what the eyes see, the estimated raw megapixel count of human eyes is way beyond most cameras and we benefit from a form of multisampling similar to sensor shift tech used in high quality stills cameras.

I didn't say Bayer has no negatives. Every design is a compromise, everything has positives and negatives. Foveon samples color at every photo site but has shit high ISO. Engineering is about trade offs.

What I did say is that Bayer sensors resolve detail at the expected level based on Nyquist. Which means CFAs are not harming resolution as you so ignorantly claimed. Unlike you I've actually tested this, which is why I know the conditions which are necessary for a Bayer sensor to lose 1/2 to 3/4 of its resolving power.

Downsampling 40mp monochrome to 10mp monochrome will result in much sharper images compared to native 10mp monochrome. Oversampling always produces a better final result. This has nothing to do with Bayer.

The D850 is basically the logical conclusion of the DSLR as a format. The whole D8X0 line is going to be looked at like the equivalent to the F series 35mm cameras. For what it is, it's quite simply the best and there's nothing really left to chase. Buy it and enjoy it. It'll outlast you and in forty years it'll still produce excellent photos for the hipster that your ingrate kid sells it to while you're in hospice.

The D850 has far superior image quality. Even if you had m43 lenses the temptation would be to sell them and jump to a D850. You have F lenses so why would you go backwards?

Mirrorless is mostly hype. There's some innovation, some nice features, but nothing that impacts IQ the way the sensor differences impact it in this comparison.

That's total bullshit. You need to pixelpeep dpreview studio scene at 100% magnification to even see the difference on the old m43 sensor and d850. The question is only whether you should wait for GH6 instead.

It's not bullshit. Print larger than 16x20? D850 will be visibly better. With some subject/lens/paper combos it will be better at 16x20. Need to shoot high ISOs? D850 will be visibly better, even on screen depending on the ISO. Shooting shallow DoF? Even if you try to match an f/2.8 pro FF zoom with a fast m43 prime, the D850 can end up visibly better because the FF combo is just sharper with fewer aberrations. Or just throw an f/1.4 prime on the D850.

You can throw software at the equation. Lens corrections, sharpening, NR. m43 has a fairly wide envelope of scenarios where it can provide good results. Not denying that, not denying that the OM-1 looks like a great camera. But reality is what it is and high resolution FF does have a wider envelope. There's no more point denying that then there is for a FF shooter to deny the IQ of a Phase One 150mp back.
