>>4001401I've just gotten some really bizzare staining or some other development defect and I don't know what it is.
I'm trying to compare straight Rodinal to Rodinal+ascorbic acid, to see if really does tighten the grain without affecting sharpness as I've read.
Top picture is 1+100 R, developed for 10 mins.
Bottom is 1+100 R + 2g of AA for 10 mins. Both are in 400ml of fluid.
The R+AA has taken on this dark staining on the negative. What makes me think it's development, and not just a coindicental film defect is it follows the shape of the tape on the box perfectly. It also follows along the highlight in the foreground. It almost looks like solarisation but I've not seen that happen enough to say with any confidence. The film wasn't exposed to light before or after exposure.
I developed a third photo with 1+100 R + 4g of AA and it shows traces of the staining, but not nearly as bad.
What's confusing me is I've shot with R+AA before and gotten good results, so I'm not convinced it's the AA. I'm using a brand new bottle of Agfa R09 so maybe that's to blame, and it's just coincidence that the plain Rodinal photo isn't affected.
Film is Fomapan 100.
