Major drawbacks are
the EVF (slightly worse than the A6600 I had). This alone if upgraded would make me get an a7cii
No Front Shutter Curtain, only rear. So you may get worse rolling shutter or banding. Also the mechanical shutter speed is way lower at only a Max of 1/4000. (1/8000 if full electric shutter)
It's "not that much smaller" than an actual a7iv. Ergonomics are still bottom-barrel trash tier. I have a half-case which makes it slightly better.
Old menu even though the cameras coming out at the time had the newer menu. Literally no reason for this other than planned obsolescence/forced a reason to make it "entry level FF".
Lack of custom buttons. I only used 1 anyways though so it was a non-issue for me.
Bonuses/ why I have it?
No EVF in the middle of the fucking camera. I hate fucking nose-to-screen.
Same quality as an a7iii if you are shooting within the limitations you have (mentioned above)
Auto Focus is just better. Not that it was really bad in the first place.
I like 2-toned camera bodies.
