>>4009820I have done semi stand rodinal development and gotten great results: Good contrast, balanced highlights and low lights, reasonable but not heavy grain.
But the other day using what I thought was the same method (18-22 secs 1+50, agitation 5 secs every 5th min, acid stop (I know it's not necessary but i'm paranoid), 3 min fix, hypo wash 2 mins, and then 5 rinses) the results were fucking terrible.
-Extremely thin negatives
-uneven development or fixing with frames at mixed level of development
-milky-non-crisp texture to many images, -extreme under development on most--but also aggressive sprocket holes as if it had been OVER agitated,
-some images with no apparent pattern developed fine.
Can anyone help me figure out what went wrong here or spitball some things to isolate?
The only things I can think of are
-developer might not have mixed well in the measuring cylinder and maybe the actual amount of developer that made it into the tank was low?
-I agitated way more than usual when fixing and slightly more than usual when developing
-3 minute fix time not enough for fresh fomafix?
-could the oil on my hands have caused the fogging when I put the film on the reel?
