Met a girl on a dating app and casually asked if she'd want to let me practice portrait shots on her. What are your budget recommendations for lenses useful for portraits
I would rather spend a little extra money on a lens and it be good than get a really cheap one and have it be shit. My price range is around 300.

Different focal lengths enhance or dehance portraits. I've heard short focal lengths make faces look fuller. I'm asking for recommendations, I can obviously use the ones I have already and most likely will for the time being but want to expand my craft from just landscape

Pick any given 85mm (FF) or 50mm (APS-C) and go to town. Difficult to go wrong tbdesu

Remember that grills love bokeh so go for the fastest lens your budget allows. You don't need or necessarily want pristine sharpness for portraits.
Don't forget that lighting matters more than the lens. If you can pick somewhere outdoors on a sunny evening that would be perfect.

Canon EF 50mm f1.8 is what you're looking for op.

Great on full frame and maybe even better on crop as it makes it a 85mm perfect for portraits. Shoot at f2.2 or higher. f1.8 is unusable on a budget crop body.
