What have your cameras been through? What models just wont die?

I killed my beginner Pentax K-R recently. I've had problems with it ever since I got it so maybe it was a lemon. It wasn't a noble death. I was trying to fix the sticking shoot button and fucked something up. Now the shutter just constantly opens and closes whenever the cameras on and the screen is dead despite being plugged in. It's not like I haven't had it apart before. I had to fix the screen cable which came loose during transit when I first got it. I've just given up on fixing things. I am too incompetent.

I heard a story once of someone dropping a Pentax down a mountain and finding it a week later on the descent and it still had charge and it still worked. That's what got me interested in them. I was thinking of going mirrorless next because less moving parts. Anyway, I want to hear your stories.
