I make about $100k USD annually, and I'd say about $17 of that is stock photography. It's the worst part of the industry.

Been at it with my own imaging company now for 5 years. The last 3 years we’ve broken 6 figures. Projected numbers are going to be near 160k this year. I also do videography work so it’s not just images I’m providing. Photography can actually provide a decent wage if you’re willing to work at it hard each and every day.

Couple hundo over the past 6 months or so. Did a baby shoot for my sister, and then another for a friend. Got tipped $50 for taking some photos including pic related for fun at a local bar while I was at trivia night with some friends and letting them use them for social media (I know one of the Brewmasters, and the whole crew is chill af so I don't mind). Got a small boudoir gig coming up next week for a baker for another hundo and a free wedding cake as a gift for my cousin's wedding, and I took a bunch of pics of vendor stuff at the Rennaisance festival for fun, and got cards from like 20 people, several of which said they'd be happy to pay for use if they come out nice

Last 5 years ranged $20k-30k annually, but it's just a side thing. Probably 85% from weddings, and rest from other portrait / family / boudoir sessions.

Zero. This after being told I should start my own photo website back in November, because I have the talent.
Other IRL people praised my work as well. Naturally, my seethe is off the charts, even for this board.
All I'd have to do is sell four fucking photos a day and I wouldn't have to deal with people anymore.

I know a guy who is pretty close to six figures, but it took him so long with so much grinding, and desu that's gay as shit. inb4 lazy. I don't think you should have to donate your entire life to a business, sacrifice every free moment, all your creativity and sanity, so that /maybe/ you can make it. It's basically fucking gambling. I know plenty of other people who were pretty smart and hustled hard, came up broke because of some unforeseen circumstance.

I gifted a 12"x36" picture of a fire truck with some planes to the fire station.
I charged work the cost as "public relations."
One of the firefighters came to my work to have another made.
I just charged him $20 over cost and they invited me back for some steaks after work.
All around a good time.

Probably about 500k over the years. Most of it was salaried work, I was the in-house photog and media guy for an automotive aftermarket company and their racing team and made about 85k a year doing it. I quit because it was a terrible lifestyle and not really enough money to support living decently in Southern California though.

I swapped a print (about €37 cost) for some tailor-made facemasks with a seamstress friend...I have yet to get them and the Covid restrictions have been lifted in my country, so I no longer need them.
That taught me to never swap for other things.

So overall, I've lost money on photography outside of it being a hobby expense.

Around a grand a year doing silver gelatin prints. Pays for chems and paper and I don't do many. A couple framed runs of 3 and matted singles. Chunk flu killed my grift with the gallery, used to pull enough to write off gear and expenses.
