>>4025987> more pixel density than a GFX100SEven a 12MP phone sensor has higher pixel density (pixels/mm^2) than a GFX100S
GFX sensor (102MP) = 43.8mm x 32.9mm = 1441.02mm^2
102MP/1441mm^2 = 70783 pixel / mm^2
Samsung HM3 sensor ((((108MP))) actual, 12MP by your standards) = 12mm x 9.6mm = 115.2mm^2
Using 12MP calculations:
12MP/115.2mm^2 = 104166 pixels/mm^2
(((108MP))) calculations would just be 9x that, so 937500 pixels/mm^2
The fact is color filter array aside, there are phone sensors with 50/64/108 million pixels, the Bayer filter would be 12MP, and the 108MP mode is achieved through software algorithms. You can argue how effective those algorithms are, but remember that standard Bayer demosaicing also relies on algorithms.
