>>4027780Getting into photography has never at any point in history been cheaper. You have a plethora of digital cameras available going back 15 years now. There is fundamentally no reason to buy a brand new camera today. If you want to buy a new latest gen digital camera today you end up paying a 2x to 6x markup on what you can get on the used market, referring to cameras from just a few generations ago. The only reason people spend big bucks for new cameras is to satiate their ego, or if you are working professionally and you can justify having the new thing out.
For the most part, what people don't realise is that most camera manufacturers have at this point run out of ideas to make their cameras technically any better. Camera tech has basically reached its peak. Camera companies are simply now just rehashing the same thing over and over again but calling it by a new name. The move to mirrorless is a good example.
