>>4040964Go early in the morning and get the sunrise for best light and most bird activity. If birds are on the water (ducks, herons etc) find a place to lie on the shore and have your lens only an inch or two above the water. The lower the better. Some species might be wary of people so you may need to throw some camouflage over you if they won't come close, otherwise a bit of patience is often needed.
Sunset can be good too and in some locations could be better with the angle of the sun. Just watch out for heat haze over the water.
If you shoot during the day have it be overcast.
If you don't know anything about birds start learning the species in your area and their behaviour so you can predict them and photograph them better.
