I've made the mistake of checking out the #photography hashtag on instagram. The fact that only about 50% of those posts are actual photography while the rest are smartphone selfies, that's to be expected
However I've discovered that there's a trend amongst the posts. While there are some decent compositions, most of the images are way oversaturated and oversharpened to the point where the sheer amount of sharpening makes the image look like one of those ironic deep-fried memes. What's up with this? Is this also a dopamine-thing with the overly bright colors? Or am I just autistic and this actually looks good? An example is pic related, also found under #photography.
