I'm planning on making my very first album.
I don't intend to publish it to the whole wide world, just have it printed somewhere, staple them all together and give to friends and family for their enjoyment and feedback.
The topic is about time. I want to show the toll that time takes on all things around us. Pictures of things from an era long forgotten, replaced by new, different things.
I also made photographs that tackle one subject in two different pictures. For example, I have a picture of a young couple sitting on a bench by the river, enjoying eachother. I also have a picture of an old man with similar hair to the guy from the couple in the first photo (just balding and white), sitting on a very similar bench, all alone, in a park, with the exact same composition. These only make sense when put next to eachother.
What I'm not sure about is how to compose this book. When and why does it matter whether I leave a border around the pictures, why and when does it make sense to only show a picture on the right page and leave the left page empty, what do all these things achieve? How should I choose a front cover image and how should it differ from the pictures inside the book?
