If there were modern half frame cameras, with af and ae and built in flashes and good sharp flush-fitting lenses, sure, but pens are ancient garbage with budget 60's lense designs that require mf, through shitty viewfinders, no less, and have suck-it-and-see dumb ae.
They aren't smaller than modern 35mm cams and once you factor in the wasted shots you probably aren't saving any film.
Some APS cameras could have been great, except for relying on a stupid dead format. If they had been half-frame 35mm's instead, they'd be some awesome cams today.
