There is an inherent tradeoff between extensive use of dual-pixel AF and low light performance, and that is why Canon cameras have typically had great AF and terrible shadow.

Conversely, Sony has way fewer of these dual-lens AF pixels so their low light is better, and their software engineers worked around thr limitation of having fewer pixel focus sensors.
