Is street photography finished? Youtubers dont count as photographers, and i dont see a single prominent streeter nowadays.

Depending on the county you can be arrested for street photography. In some countries like the UK people are fine with goverment cctv but if you take a photo of them they could get you arrected for "harassment".

How do you get over the fear of taking photos of people? I tried going to the mall with my 5d mk2 and had a few good shots that I was too afraid to take.

i dont have fear of photographing people. just go and do it, people literally are minding their own bussiness, and if they see you, theyll brush it off the second later. i think the 5D is kinda too intrusive, id use small portable camera. see OP pic, not that exact same, its like $2000 now lol.

Correct, resolution doesn't let you see the entire thing very well and the presentation along with the quantity doesn't make it very easy for the easily-distracted nor organized for the ones who kinda are.

I can go walk on the street anytime. It’s boring as fuck. The only time it’s slightly interesting is if it’s somewhere totally different looking to normal but that’s rare. Old street can also be interesting from a history perspective but that obviously can’t apply to modern street shitters.
In summary, street is the canary in the coal mine. It’s the most boring type of photography and such the first thing to die. It would be a warning but all the genres are dying so we are way past that point. Over supply for years has made photography boring hence the current move to fresh ground with short video clips.

I almost got into a fist fight with a semi prominent local street photographer when I saw him walking around my home town (not a big town) and decided to follow him.
Whenever he stopped somewhere to take a photo, I went to that exact same spot and also took a picture.

He noticed me after a while and started to go nuts on me when he saw me take the same pics as him.

Is this considered stealing? Because he claimed I was stealing his intellectual property.

just pretend you want to photograph something behind them. if people get the feel through your body language that you are not actively photographing them, they will notice you at first but then immediately ignore you. Also dress like a tourist. No one will care even if you stick the camera right in their face.

Used to do my street photography on trips to North Korea, pretty intense during the trips, always a lot going on and pressure from the North Korean guides about photo restrictions. Only asked to delete one photo over 10 trips there. Finished for me as I cant imagine I will ever be back.

DXO One has a 1" sensor but it's far from garbage. You don't need a phone to use it, it has a microSD slot. Mine always nails it exposure and focus-wise. It doesn't even register as a camera to 99% of people.
