I like taking photos of nature, but I have no idea what to do to make them good or better than just "feeling what's right"

what do you do to get better, besides taking more photos?

well I'd say in that picture a problem is that you can't see shit not even in the immediate foreground, also it's way too orange-tinted

Taking photos that "feel right" to you is a good thing, it means you have a vision in mind when you take your shot. If you're unsure in your vision, get critique from other people.

I also almost exclusively shoot naitcher and I find it challenging. I'm fine getting the exposure I want and making decisions about how I develop the image in post so it "feels" like it felt to be there, but man with nature photos I just can't make good decisions about composition. Really chaps my dickie.

In my opinion being a good photographer is 1/3 being good technically (so taking a lot of photos), 1/3 having artistic culture (so looking up other artists, seek inspiration in their work), 1/3 just being creative and having original ideas (this one you cannot really work directly I guess).

I don't recall. I typically don't use sharpening so I wouldn't bet on it but can't rüul it out.

I did a lot of cranking the exposure though

Do not underestimate the power of golden hour.
About 89.67 % of the nature photos you took would have looked 134.87% better were they shot at golden hour.

I don't agree with that. There are plenty of scenes that won't work in golden hour. Light will be too weak, or even not there. Shadows will be harsh and long. There are scenes that need it, but being limited to golden hour alone is missing on a lot.

I was there as well. Just keep shooting. Visit the same locations and experiment. They may not be the best locations, but you will improve the most by studying what you know. Pay attention to what works and what doesn't. It's not something that can be explained easily, but eventually something will click.

OP, do more pics like your opening pic, thats a beautiful aesthetic. it lacks composition but has the mood 100% nailed, youll learn in time. you get better watching good painters, good photogs (not youtube, not instagram), and well shot and cine'd movies.
