I've worked in a camera shop for only a couple of months now and I'm genuinely amazed how many conversations with customers go like this:
>"Hi, I'd like to buy a new camera today"
Sure, what sort of photos do you take? What system are you using at the moment?
>"Well, I have a [DSLR that's 2-3 years old] and I'm just not pleased at all with the colours and the menus, I'm really thinking of changing to [a mirrorless system camera that has one or two extra features over their current camera]"
We have plenty of lenses for your current mount...
>"Oh no, I've watched the YouTube videos, I really want that camera."
And then they trade in their perfectly fine DSLR and suite of lenses for some mirrorless camera (usually it's a Sony) and spend more than what I make in two months on a mildly better body and lenses *convinced* that'll fix their shitty photos because of "CoLoUr ScIeNcE" or some other bullshit that can just be adjusted in post.
Now Canon are releasing their crop sensor cameras on the RF mount (pic related) everyone is trading in their entire EF-M cameras and glass because it's a "dead system". Why? All because "the mount is dead" doesn't mean you have to stop using it.
Cannot wait for everyone to swap from DSLRs to Mirrorless, then I get to buy up all those lenses you spent 2 grand on new for £350 used because some shitty vlogger or marketing exec convinced you that you just *had* to move to mirrorless for literally no reason other than your repeat business.
