I got mine pretty heavily yellowed back in the days. Pic shows the 50/1.4 compared with 55/2.

Judging by your serial #, it's probably radioactive. I have one of these too. You don't have to leave it in the sun to remove the yellow - you can also adjust white balance to custom.

Thorium glass yellows with time. Let sunlight shine on back element for week or nuke its butt with an uv lamp and it will get better.

The radioactive element degrades the glue in the double and triple elements, on a molecular level which gives the yellowing. Easy to fix, put it out in direct sunlight for a few days, like on the windowsill and it will mostly clear out. Summer sun is strong and heavy on UV so it will work fast.

I wouldn't necessarily do it for days. UV and heat will break down pretty much everything else in there. I'd leave it in the sun and check it every few hours until it looks like it's cleared up.

The Super-Tak 50/1.4 and 55/2 make such great images. This one's taken with the fifty and 25mm extension tube.

Pic shows the setup. My 50/1.4 is the ordinary 7-element version but I still like it. The 8-element version is known to have special magical effect on pictures.

I got that, it’s a great lens, you just need to white balance properly. I never had an issue, it’s just warmer than other lenses. Which is good in more extreme low cold light situations
