>>4056301>might call ahead to see if they have any used ones for saleThey don't have a website? You can buy from many camera stores online where I live, used gear too.
The pros with buying used from a camera store is that it will probably be checked to work correctly beforehand. Sometimes they have warranty too. The one I bought from have 6 months on all used gear.
The cons are that it can be more expensive (although I have gotten some things cheaper there than from private sellers) and availability will probably be lower than the "free" used market.
Buying private can obviously be a bit riskier, but you can get great deals. And if you can even check it locally then it's probably no problem, as you can see if anything seems bad and try it out beforehand. There should be good protection online too, through e.g. PayPals protection and such. You can read whay Ken Rockwell says about buying on ebay for example.
Also, most people are good, so if something seems reasonable it probably is.
As for the D610 specifically, I like it. But it's the only fullframe I have ever had, and the only more "professional" camera I have. And this is the entry model of full frame when it was released, so it's not that professional, but much more so than my old D3300.
If it would be good for you depends on your usecase. Some points about fullframes in general here compared to APC sensor DSLRs. They are usually much bigger and heavier; lenses are more expensive, and also bigger and heavier. They offer better low light performance, greater DoF, easier to get wide angle, and they are usually more "professional" than the APC models from the get go.
