Back when stock agencies were bricks and mortar places with filing cabinets full of slides in climate controlled rooms and with a team of staff. Photographers were paid 50% of the usage fees.
The rule of thumb was you would earn approximately US$1 per year for every photo in stock. ie if you had 1,000 images in stock you would expect to earn around US$1,000 per year off them. You will earn nowhere near that now.
