Open Source Photo Editing Software General /OSPESG/

No.4062465 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Use this thread to discuss/shit on open source photo editing software like Darktable, RawTheRapee, LightZone.

Ive decided to give Darktable a try after the recent update.
One good thing I can say about it is that the Ui is looking nicer.
But the editing workflow itself still doesn't make any fucking sense to me.
Am I being purposefully filtered or am I just retarded?
Are the devs all just Linux retards who enjoy adding unnecessary and convoluted mouse clicks and keyboard shortcuts to do a simple task?

Fair to say I am upset by it.
I'm trying to fucking learn it but even the fucking tutorials are retarded, you'll find videos that are an hour or more long of faggots swallowing air and "uhhh"ing for 5 minutes before sharing another pice of useful information, and here's the best part, the photos still come out looking like shit.
What took them hours to achieve can be replicated by a few missclicks in any other paid software.
It's like they are fucking editing photos to make them look good on a fucking CRT screen.

Overall the new user experience is bad and not intuitive, you can not learn that software naturally and gradually as you use it, you are constantly running into some issue that halts your workflow and requires a search for a fix.

So what are other alternatives to photo editing that are less painful to use?
