Coolscans and such are hella expensive, but there's one brand that is still cheap, the software still works, and the models from > 2002 have USB: Minolta. I first had a Scan Dual IV, and now have an Scan Elite . A friend got a Scan Dual III. They're slightly quirky machines, but the scan quality is excellent, my SE'll do 42mp (although the true optical resolution probably lies at 30mp though - still, it's fucking great, and it''ll outresolve any film on the market today.)
You can get a Scan Dual II, III or IV for < $100/€100, and it'll give you 4500x3000 scans, with and they're fully automatic - select all the frames, click scan, and then stand up and go make a coffee or something, when you come back they'll all be done. I don't know why people buy Plusteks, you have to babysit those machines to scan at any speed.
