What's the best way to emulate early 2000s/y2k aesthetic?

You might hate the song but the video for Sk8er Boi is a good example of what I'm talking about. It's lower quality than what phones today would normally shoot but it has a certain charm to it in my opinion.

Most modern cemeras use CMOS sensors old digitalcameras and camrecorders used CCD sensors that gives a different look

I think you should use modern camera tech and build a set and do costuming around the late ‘90s/early ‘00s because that would be more interesting and cool.

That's not ccd. More likely it's regular footage made to look like low quality, or it's tape. I'm kinda leaning towards first. There's a strong use of emboss and blur filters on the video.

for videos you should cop a 90's/00's old cassette recorder, those are dirt cheap and in flea markets you can find brand new tapes a dime a dozen
for pictures it's shooting fuji film, only those have that ugly green tint

- add noise
- lower color saturation a bit (for a 1-chip CCD look)
- use interlaced mode
- a little bit of edge sharpening

2000's video did not look like shit.

If you use an actual 2000s era camera you will probably need a firewire interface, since at the time it was much better than USB.
