Multi vs average metering. I find average gets me better pictures between the 2 but I see everyone recommending multi. What's up with that?

This is true. Once you get familiar with how your camera meters and exposes, you can even shoot in program mode and get the results you want.
For full manual, use spot metering and expose for the subject.

Multi and Average are both bad.
Use highlight bias spot meter on the brightest relevant item in your scene.

every mode has its pros/cons
i pretty much just leave on multi and adjust based on histogram

I joined an X100V group on Facebook to see some pictures taken with it.
Not sure what happened but the last few months a whole influx of people asking the most basic shit came about, most likely first time camera buyers. Did I miss something? For most of its lifetime the camera was mainly used by people who have YouTube channels about ditching their gear and embracing the simplicity of a $1600 meme camera.

Do they have infinite money? Keep in mind the X100V is sold out globally so most likely they've ordered one with a 2 month waiting period despite never having handled a camera before.
One of the questions which I came across was a woman asking why her pictures were completely blown out (she obviously had electronic shutter turned off) or just straight up people asking whether or not you can change the lens.
The electronic shutter question would make sense on some X-E4 forum but there's apparently people buying the X100V who can't figure that one out.

worked camera retail for many years
there are definitely tons of people with lots of money, and people that buy stuff beyond their skill level
makes sense to me, a lot of the people talking up x100v's know what they're doing, and get great results with it
people just see pretty pictures and want the same camera that took them, not understanding that there's more to it than just the camera
the x100v is a great camera for what it is, it just isn't a good fit for most people, even most enthusiasts
i've seen tons of first time camera buyers leap right into d750's, 5d's, a7III's, etc
got to any flickr pool for any great camera and you'll see tons of hot garbage, picrel for d850
