you have to be decently artistic/creative, and good at improv and problem solving while on your feet. You have to really know your gear, be good with people, know the photgraphy AND vieography aspects, be able to pilot a drone, work in shit weather conditions, deal with other asshole vendors and venues, and then, if you're doing it for a living, you have to go home after every shoot and be disciplined and knowledgable enough to run a business.
and the kneeling and heavy gear around your neck for 10-12 hours at a time wears you down physically
Also you work every weekend.
Something else to consider...The overwhelming majority of wedding photogs are liberal women who also think they're models, so if you're a man you have to work against that because they'll all trash talk you on their secluded little fb groups and internet forums.
I think a lot of people get into it because they think its easy and they'll make their own schedule and it doesnt require a degree or state certs, but its real work.
