Why not? You can make charger yourself, and even if it gets damaged by an EMP wave or a conventional blast, there will be thousands of them lying around in now abandoned stores, pawnshops, etc.

everything else is generally available in a modern digital slr or mirrorless. And as a plus you have plenty of lens choices and all the other advantages of a decent camera. Most modern smartphones don't even allow you to replace your own battery without disassembling the entire thing, risking destroying essential components, even if you do it right your water seal is gone.

How is that apocalypse worthy?

If you keep having persistent problems with radiation fogging your film you're also exposing yourself to dangerous amounts of the same radiation.

The real problem is the industrial infrastructure behind producing and processing it. It's going to be pretty low on the list of priorities when rebuilding society.

Not really. It won't get that fogged from sitting in the back of a truck, even in a fairly contaminated area. The Kodak problem during the Manhattan project was due to radioactive downfall embedded in the paper and being in direct contact with the film. Here the film will sit in its packaging in the back of a truck, there will be plenty of material in the way to block the radiation. It really doesn't take that much to stop charged particles, which is the main concern here.

The real problem is that what remains of the factories are going to be focusing on the war effort, not producing frivolous consumer goods.
