It's objectively not as it's objectively worse at those things I pointed out, which affect x and y photography.

And no, no one is using manual focus for portraits when eye af is a thing, sure they used to when af would often lock onto specs or eyelashes, but if you had good equipment you'd know those days are long gone. The only reason people still manual focus for landscape is that there's not a hyperfocal distance setting in Sony cameras yet.

And why are you talking about film? Film medium format is much larger than Fuji babby crop medium format and has a very different aesthetic to 135 (presuming you're not going with babby 645, but who would?)

Do you even own any medium format ilc's? I bet you don't, poor boy.

hasselblad x1dll is better
and the new hasselblad x2d is even better, it makes better images + you get hasselblad glass which is 10x better than fuji
but getting a used h5d is incomparable, i bought mine for 7k and digi back plus 2 lenses with it were included FOR ONLY 6.5k!

I'm almost always between f2.8 and f4 and when im using strobes, leds or other artificial lighting, im always between f8 and f11, sometimes i go as high as f16. I'd say 50% of my shots are shot at f4, 30-35% at f2.8 and the rest at f8-11

It really just depends on the look you're going for. Those stopped down studio shots are great, and obviously stopping down makes sense in that environment, but there is more than one style to take a portrait. The Peter Coulson that keeps getting shilled around here does a lot shots with faster lenses, and also shoots FF alongside Hassy.
I'd look at the work of Benjamin Kanarek too, who does a lot of fashion work, mostly out of Paris (Elle, Glamour, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, etc). He has a GFX setup, but still even uses his X-T bodies and lenses for a lot of the work, literally done Vogue with an X-T4 and 35mm f14. He's such an anti-gearfag too that his "desert island" setup would be that same camera and lens.
The same photog you're shilling (Barrie) also shoots Canon FF, and has plenty of samples at faster apertures, and shoots Fuji too, and considers shots like this worth posting. It was also taken with FF @ f2.
It's so weird when people use the work of others to try and claim some kind of gear superiority, when those very same photogs would likely disagree.

X2D is better for serious use. GFX's are more versatile, and significantly better if you enjoy adapting lenses. Just depends on your use case.

Had a Pentax 645z with 75mm and 28-45mm, used it for landscapes and product photos, mostly food, some art photos as well, both paintings and sculptures.
Now I use FF and while the lens selection is vastly improved it doesn’t come near what my 645z produced. I miss my old Pentax but I won’t be able to replace the current gear for some time. I hope I don’t need to sell it to be able to heat my home in the coming winter…

Only if the sensor has more MP to begin with. A 50mp FF, GFX, and 645 sensor will all show the same extinction resolution, assuming good glass. The larger sensors will be sharper ooc. But with good glass it's not typically enough to matter with post processing. Of course GFX currently hits 100mp and Phase One hits 150mp. So yes, if you have one of those models you currently have more resolution than any FF.

Nonsense. I tried that test when I first got my 5Ds. It beats 6x9 Velvia 50 on a drum scanner. The only film that's going to beat 50mp FF/GFX/645, in 645 format. is Adox CMS 20 II.

Because you can produce 36", 40", and 48" landscape prints from high resolution FF, without stitching or pixel shift, assuming good glass and technique. If I regularly produced 48" and larger landscape prints I would want a Phase One (ps is too damn unreliable).

Oh also as if it weren't pathetic enough that in relative terms it's less of a difference with APS-C than in absolute ones, it's also less of a difference in absolute ones. Not even 10mm bigger on either side (it adds 7.9mm tops), meanwhile full frame is 12.3mm bigger than APS-C on one side and 8.4mm on the other.

outside of all the mf lenses you can adapt, a fair number of ff provide decent coverage

my cheap ttartisan 50mm f1.4 probably works the best of my ff glass
picrel is with a different ff 50mm lens, full sensor on top, ff crop on bottom

there's still a very modest increase in size too even after cropping in for the corners, even just going back to 3:2 or 4:5 gets rid of the issue most of the time

I love my 50sII, can’t go back to FF. I have a GF 80mm which is pretty sweet. I’m tempted to buy the 100s and slap the GF kit lens on one and use the 80 on the other.

the 110 f2 is a "better" lens, better sharpness, ca control, faster to focus, but also a bit bigger
i went the 80 + 45 combo and been loving it along with all the adapted options, but also planning to pickup fuji's 55 f1.7, whenever it comes out
