I've been shooting almost everyday for the last 2 years and I've got almost 2TB of content.
Most of it is bad, some of it is really good.

I never look at it after saving from sdcard, never edit or give any thought to it.

Some people need to be the centre of attention, some don’t. People who crave attention will have far higher motivation to use social media etc.
I am similar to you, I feel zero drive to post stuff online. I use Flickr and dump stuff in a folder for months until I decide I still like it and finally post it but everything to do with posting it is a chore.
You should still post your best stuff on your own page, just don’t use something like Insta as it is built and designed solely around people who crave constant attention and every thing it does feels backwards.

I wanted to reply but this fella beat me to it.
It's really fun being able to gift people their photos years later.
Oftentimes I will do a portrait shoot and only release a few of them to the client. A while later, on the anniversary of the date, I will release another. Sort of like a previously unreleased nostalic throwback sort of thing. Clients are very happy with it.

It's fine to take pleasure in the process of something, independent of the output or end product.
If you enjoy the act of taking pictures, that's all the justification you need.
If you want to be more involved with the end process though, you gotta set yourself up for it.
Make a goal to print a picture or two each month, start a long term photo project, try editing some photos in a variety of ways, etc.
If nothing else, just give it some more time. I've been recently going through pictures I took 3-5 years ago and it's been really interesting, as my tastes and editing techniques have changed..

Not necessarily, I've found that after I started shooting film and moved that mentality of every frame costs money to digital, i take less photos but I end up taking more good photos

I have some 2.5Tb of shots piled up, maybe a few hundred of them have actually been published and mostly the platform is /p/. At first I was really excited about publishing but that dried up after a while and nowadays I feel such crippling anxiety just trying think of a portfolio that I'd rather just take all this shit with me to the grave. Also because I shoot film I have several boxes full of negatives and positives, it'll be real fun for whoever picks up all that shit after I'm gone.

I've seen it by the way while trawling through old junk shops for cameras and equipment. Old sports bags stuffed full of negatives of some late photographer, his life's work just dumped in some flea market and the vendor begging me to take them because who the fuck needs that shit? It was like peering into the future when I'm worm food.

I have a little over $1k in camera equipment and the only half-okay photos I take are of my dog.

I should probably buy a macro lens since most of macro is just taking pictures of (smaller) animals and apparently I like that, or a bigass telephoto to go "hunting" with but it took a lot of resolve just for me to buy a camera and later finally consoom a flash and a second lens

A photo being good or bad has nothing to do with it being art or not. And photography can be an art, don't fall for the meme that it's always not an art. But it requires a creative process to be. You have to be in control of the picture beyond the mere act of pressing a button.

This is a comforting thought to meat eaters and animal abusers but I assure you, they understand the world before them, know where they stand in it and that they stand in it, and know that others will see it like they see it.

The cat is therefore an artist. And probably a better one than you. The cat can not comprehend the camera, sadly, but then again you don't take photos either. But if the cat did, they would be a better photographer than you.

Photography is great for OCD types, lone wolves and aspies.
Sadly, I found that it's just as tough to 'make it' as an introvert, as in everything else in this life now.
Any hope of being a paid professional still relies on that awful social stuff.
I took around 2,000 photos in the streets of my city, posted to IG and even had a website. No-one gives a fuck.

I feel you with that money making stuff. Sometimes I think being a hobby photographer is the better route. No internal pressure to be successful or to sell myself as semi-pro to attract potential commissions. Just a shame it's a bit expensive to be in this hobby but then again, hobbies are rarely cheap.
