Use an old film lens (the rendering style, color cast, and softness are part of the look)
Use a glimmerglass filter (softens highlights... and detail)
Totally kill color noise at the cost of sharpness, leave luminance noise, maybe even increase it.
Shoot in soft natural lighting or git gud. Artificial light, especially flash, was difficult for most people to use for the longest time, so most film shots are either in very good light or ambient light.
Use a fixed white balance. Use a fixed ISO instead of coping and using it and EV values to fix exposures. This is a stylistic choice but the result is film-y thematic consistency shot to shot.
