This is something many wonder and I'm finally asking. What makes photos from the 1910s-late 40s look the way they look , and on mirrorless what's the best way to simulate the way these gritty photos look? When I look at combat photography from the past 20 years it just looks so boring an unimaginative. But almost every photo from every side of the Pacific war looks so comfy or awe inspiring.
