What's a good yet inexpensive simple point-and-shoot?

Honestly don't need anything other than flash.

Don't want a Canon AE-1. Too big, and expensive, and I don't want to look like a hipster.

Just something I can stash into my bag and not worry about, and pull out, grab a shot, and stash away.

also you sound like a street “photographer” so not an artist. I recommend you buy a leica.

Not at all lmao.
I just travel a lot for work and always take photos with my phone. They do the trick.
But I just think it would be neat to have something cheap I can slap a roll in and grab some shots.
It's mostly an aesthetic thing I want to give a try.

The only other film cameras I've ever used are polaroid and Instax.

Agfa Optima 1035. Very wide shutter speed range (15sec - 1/1000) which is unusual with compacts, excellent lens, no AF system to fuck you over, also looks stylish af. What's not to love?

The first one is also the smallest actual rangefinder camera you can find, it's not fully manual, but you can't really make a rangefinder with aperture priority and a bloody 35 2.8 lens smaller than that
Wonderful lens too, quite soft at 2.8, but still very useable at night

Lens shutter too, so you can go to speeds like 1/8th of a second at night

ISO only goes to 800, but combined with the bright lens and stable shutter, it's fine

It's also still pretty cheap, good price is around 100 bucks last I checked, under 200 definitely
You'll be able to put it in your pocket, not even your bag

Also if you're into half frames I recommend the Olympus Pen EE2, super small, good selenium cell, good lens, 72 frames on a roll (half frame is the format of fucking movies like Star Wars and The Good The Bad and the Ugly, if it's enough to blow on a cinema screen, it's enough resolution for you)

I bought a Fujifilm X-E1 earlier this year to use as a camera to slip in my pocket/emergency camera, and having been cut off from my X-Pro3 for a month, I've been enjoying using it a lot
I mounted a 7artisans 18 6.3 lens on it, stuck it to black and white and ISO 12800, JPEGS only, and I'm using it just like I would a film camera

I'd consider it

Film cameras are something best appreciated at yard sales because zoomers have cleaned out ebay and thrift stores leaving retards paying $300 for crusty meme cameras. I have an olympus OM-1 with a 50mm zuiko, because that was the camera fortune gave me.

They're literally just boxes that hold the film and lens relative to each other so who cares. If you are going to spend anything resembling money, spend it on digital, or save it for slide film.
