as a barely using LCD user, i quite love about pro3 hidden lcd. if pro4 come out, they at least make it flip LCD so we can flip it in. mostly cameras come with tilting LCD, i'm quite despise it though. only because it catches finger print, nose print, greasy endlessly.

All the things you mention are absolutely true, and I’ve been lusting after an X-Pro since the day the first one came out. But when I finally had the money I decided to be pragmatic and get the far more practical X-T3, which felt like a lot better value for money.

So I think that’s what they have been doing, cannibalising the X-Pro sales. They would need to change the pricing structure, lowering the price of the X-Pro and significantly increasing the price of the X-T5 and X-H2. But that would probably mean selling the X-Pro 3 at a loss and scaring away the rest of the customers to Sony. So the only thing that makes sense is cancelling it.

my pro2 hit 6 years this year, 2nd most used camera i've ever had
i loved the screen of the pro3, and all the other improvements, but the ovf change is still iffy to me
they're poor choices for most people though, wouldn't surprise me at all how poorly they sell
i would mostly want larger ovf, ibis, and would prefer stacked 26mp but fine with 40mp

yeah, hard part is x-pro is a more intricate design which leads to higher costs
and then the x-t series gets better performance / more features even with the same generation / sensor / processor
you have to really love ovf shooting for the x-pro to make sense at all

definitely closer to a contax G2 than it is an M, both in design and operation

I think the only way to cope with greatness of OVF by mirorless is range finder. or mirlss SLR style camera's can apply hybrid OVF too?

It’s not the 70s. Shutters are not mechanical. Shutter speeds are adjusted in 1/3 stops. Having a retro shutter dial is a retarded thing only fuji and the nikon zfc do.

honestly though, aperture and shutterspeed I pretty much only change in full stops anyways, ISO can deal with the 1/3-2/3 adjustment if needed
i shoot in aperture priority & auto iso most of the time anyways, but it is nice to have that dial to instantly override and dial in an exact shutter speed without changing modes or something
also handy when dual shooting to keep settings the same across cameras, but at that point it's no different than a top LCD (which a surprising number of mirrorless lack)
