It just is finer lines and more detail. Admittedly the higher ISOs may be cleaner than a lot of cameras, but back then people were only able to capture up to 800 ASA on a limited amount of shutter speed ranges. That and going further back F/stops like 1.8 or 1.4 didn't exist, neither did lenses wider than 35mm existed. Zoom lenses used to never exist so people had to rely on only primes.

White lenses, or cameras, are probably the stupidest idea I've ever heard of. How would you like your camera to reflect onto any subject that is even remotely semi-reflective? Cameras are black because you don't want the camera color to affect the lighting of your subject.

It only makes sense for telephoto lenses, assuming you're going to be far away from your subject, since the color is a little more likely to keep the interior of the lens tube slower to heat up on a hot day.

I'm eventually planning on doing some deep space photography with my 100-400, wanted to try a 200-600 to see the quality difference, someday perhaps. I haven't heard of a new 1.4x, is that a thing? That would be pretty nice, been considering getting one.

think I saw rumors of recently, but the TCs are definitely overdue for an upgrade since most people say they do nothing for the 200-600. 200-600 is still way too new for an refresh/upgrade (GM maybe?). New TC would make sense with how good the new 70-200 is as well, and the first gen TCs were also released alongside the first gen 70-200. I feel like the only reason they might hold off on new TCs would be potentially canabalizing 100-400 sales considering how good the new 70-200 is.
