Meanwhile the 620 and 630 are readily available in the US for like $50.
EOS 5 is cool with its eye-AF and sits in the middle of those prices.
EOS 50 also has eye AF but it's a bit of a pain in the ass to use in my experience (very picky with lenses and has a tendency to lock up when using chipless ones).
I'll admit I did mistake the 1 for the 1V though, and I was under the impression they had a battery grip. They're not as impractical as I thought. So I'll have to concede. I'm a bigger fan of the 30V for a similar price but it is less versatile (IR sensor for frame counting meaning you can't use IR film with it).
