A lot of artist and musicians get told their stuff looks or sounds bad, by "professionals" who "know what they're talking about"... until they do something that breaks the mold and practically forces the world to see or hear their stuff.
Keep doing your art in the way that it speaks to you, being too over critical is stressful, doing what everyone else is doing is boring, and doing anything to make anyone else happy, makes YOU unhappy.
