Literally every single photography job is 60%+ female.

This is the least mentally, physically, and creatively demanding trade on earth. They are only there to document something and not fuck up the exposure or have skewed framing with people cut in half.
So yes gear matters. The people paying the photographer basically just need someone to hold the nicest possible camera so they can get good prints and a lot of latitude in editing the photo. Gear is a moneymaker, that's why it costs so much money. Using bad gear is a waste of time, it's very fembrained in this case of this trend
"Stacy has photos that look like this and stacy is hot so i need to have photos that look like this"
