Why would i buy a whole fucking lens for one photo? At the most a $20 filter does it. At the cheapest just use photoshop or purposefully botch your darkroom print. Fucking gearfags. Cameras are tools. Everything special besides technology replacing techniques, you know, everything artistic and creative, is on you, not some piece of glass, strip of film, or computer chip.

He's wrong about one thing. It's high contrast lens. It's just soft.

Surely you want a sharp lens here so the "contrast", as it were, between in and out of focus bits is highest? I've noticed very soft lenses feel like they have more DoF because things don't snap in and out of being sharp.
Also contrast sliders exist and can, in fact, go below the 0 point.

I just googled the one mentioned in op. I'm not completely certain it's the same exact lens. They can have apsc models, and multiple versions. Plainly from experience, these are actually high contrast lenses, but soft and poorly corrected, so I checked.

i have a lot of lenses that overlap in focal length and even aperture, but offer quite different IQ, just fun to mix it up sometimes

you are beginning to realize that the organic and present look of film was actually from a shitty lens

the human eye is also a shitty lens and you experience the world in a continuous state of optical imperfection throughout most of your field of view, so photos taken with a shitty lens are easy to connect with than a surreal photo with everything in perfect sharp focus.

i mainly noticed the colors desu, but also it does have nice texture thats definitely helped but the compositions are also great! if it was shot with an ultra sharp lens itd still be very cool

I'm -4 on both eyes, since learning of this fact, I've stopped wearing my glasses, now I experience superb bokeh rendition of the world. Driving a car is especially thrilling experience, It's like super realistic force feedback simulation, I can't recommend it enough.

Nah, it doesn't work. You get glow, but you also get exaggerated softness, and no ca, which is also an issue. It's different and works on some things, but it 's certainly not the same.
