Smartphone processing with *real* camera

No.4124070 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
When will camera manufacturers learn? When will they start putting some *real* smartphone tier .jpg processing inside their cameras? I think there are many photogs whom either shoot .jpg only, or shoow both .jpg or raw. There's no excuse to *not* have better processing inside the camera, seeing how the processing can probably be oursourced to some second chip, which undoubtly might increase cost a little, but will make photography experience *that* much better for everyone involved.

Imagine if you had actual good (google pixel/iphone/samsung or whatever is good) smartphone tier processing on a camera, that has actually big sensors (from m43 to medium format, everything is big compared to phones). How much better would not only the pictures be compared to phone, but the experience also, because you're getting all the benefits of phone photography processing (which can be amazing at times), while also getting huge boost to both lenses and sensor size of what real camera can offer.

So my question is, why has this not been done successfully yet? Why are we stuck with likes of Canon and Nikon? It's not 1980 anymore, why are we still giving money to companies stuck in the past? Why can't I run linux or android on a camera?
