When will medium format become the "full frame" of digital photography? I've been lusting for these 50 or 100mp fuji's medium format cameras for years now, the dr benefit is there, more light gather potential with similar sensor tech, and most of all, you can retain much bigger pixels with equal ammount of pixels compared to FF or smaller formats (meaning, medium format's 50mp pixels probably similar size to FF's 33mp or something, whilst FF's 50mp is much smaller). This gives medium format advantage in color changes and tonality, provided than the sensor is good (it's with modern fujis) and color science is also good.
The only downside seems to be price. Fuji GFX100 costs 10k, which is a lot of money for body alone, it's cheaper compared to some other offerings, but I do wonder, when will we see the prices of Medium format digtal come down? Will they ever introduce "affordable", 2-3k options with new 24-36mp sensors or something?
