I Just bought an X-T5 cause it was the most recent and advanced camera on the market, then I started seeing all these videos pop into my YT feed... did i fuck up? Why was it only positive reviews before I bought and now it's all these negative reviews out of nowhere? Hoping it arrives before the weekend so i can spend time testing it out but I'm anxious as hell with buyers remorse.

I'm upgrading from my iPhone, I think I've finally reached it's limitations so was super excited to reach my 5 year savings goal and buy a brand new camera, hence why I'm also suffering cause it was first time I've spent so much on anything before

It's not even the most advanced fuji camera. The only fuji worth buying is the fuckexpensive GFX100S, and maybe the XH2S for video (but apparently panasonic curbstomped it).

Fuji has always made mediocre to terrible cameras. I almost fell for the meme but the crashing, freezing, low image quality, and constant lens and camera breakage really put me off. Even sony isn't that fragile, and at least you get sharp lenses and good sensors.

Genuine advice here though: nothing wrong with the camera, however it is unwise to purchase your first camera brand new as you might find yourself not using it as much as you'd like to and end up selling it, and you lose 30% of its value as soon as you take it out of the box.

Buy something used, many first gen mirrorless are still very much up to snuff to the current ones, and it'll cost you less than 500 bucks for a body, and they wont depreciate in value nearly as fast, and with the money saved you can splurge on some seriously good glass.

If you go dslr its even cheaper but you miss out on some really cool adapted glass if you were planning to go that route.

ive got an xh1, xh2 and xt5, they're great cameras, nothing is perfect and you'll never get there, just start shooting

I shoot fuji professionally. I love their lenses, colors and ergonomics. If you’re just starting out, I’d rather see you invest in a 8-10 year old used, professional grade camera. The one that comes to mind immediately is the Nikon D700. Tons of great used glass on the market, a full frame censor that apparently renders beautifully. It is a modest 12 megapixels. This is the same amount as the iPhones up until recently. Advantage to the Nikon is the sensor size and the ability to control iso, shutter speed and aperture. It’s also built like a tank. If you need to do video work, you should just stick with the xt5. The d700 has 0 video capabilities.

I mean seriously I just looked on ebay and there's an A7RII for $700+$20 shipping. That's a way better camera than literally every fuji X camera ever made.

not really no, my cats pretty boring to video but super cute to photograph, the guy in the store ( i bought it online for cheaper than in store was) said the x-t5 had animal eye detection or something so I thought that was pretty cool

Every semi-new mirrorless camera has animal AF dude. If I were you and clearly not on that tight of a budget I would have bought a used A7RIII and enjoyed the extra $300+ for a lens. Fuji AF is kind of slow and it's a crop sensor. APS-C can be ideal for video, meh for photography.

As an amateur without having used anything enthusiast grade before, you probably don't yet need what the X-T5 offers. If you want a really competent Fuji option that will not be limited in any way for non-pros compared to the X-T5, the X-S10 is a cheaper option. You can get the X-S10 and the very good 18-55mm Fuji kit lens for $980 (cheaper than the X-S10 on its own new) as a manufacturer refurb from Fuji directly which is probably better than new as anything that would go wrong likely already has and was fixed, and it has some sort of warranty. Only caveat is it doesn't include many accessories, but the only ones I'd want starting out would be to go get a cheap set of Watson or Wasabi or w/e cheapo third party batteries + charger for it, and some kind of strap (prefer Peak Designs wrist straps anyways for how I shoot on smaller cameras). I'd just return the X-T5 immediately and then later on if you outgrow the X-S10 you're already in the system and can seamlessly upgrade to the hot new thing with the lenses you've acquired in the meanwhile.

In my testing with my X-T4 recently, they can handle the overkill 400mpbs all-intra 4k video output option which means they actually meet advertised speeds, saving me from having to buy much more expensive V60 or V90 cards from sketchier brands. What this means is the cards shouldn't bottleneck your video recording or burst shooting on nearly any current camera, as most have easier handled max bitrate than the X-T line.

every system has it's pros and cons, but only you can know if it's "good enough" to meet your needs
you can get better af, better lens support, better IQ, better video functionality, etc with other models, but the x-t5 could very well be "good enough" for you in all of those areas already
the grass is always greener, just gotta find what works for you and not what works for xyz youtuber in a given week
