>>4129589Procrastination! It’s funny cause now when thinking about it I am doing this with other things too. Like, I spent two months researching speakers, headphones and amplifiers. I have an amazing stereo setup in my home now. Multiple sets (one for living room, one for home office). Do I ever actually listen to music anymore though? Not really, lol. And my most expensive setup that I have in the living room I absolutely never use.
Well, it’s fun to read, learn and plan purchases though, right? So at least we are getting some form value out of it in the end. But I think the problem is we see buying things (and researching what to buy) is being productive. It’s a more dopamine-hitting way of being productive, and we choose to do that instead of doing actual work because our brains just don’t enough of a kick from the latter.
Perhaps we should both try a dopamine detox? No internet, no shopping, no sugar, no porn etc for a week or two. I’ve actually thought about doing that for a while now. I really should do it (and so should you I think).
By the way, never tell yourself that you are a loser, it could become a self fulfilling prophecy. We are just in a bit of a rut.
