They actually made the UI usable after the a7r iv. I wish there was an alternative firmware so we can get later sony features in older cameras, but sadly, it seems like that scene dried up after the shift to mirrorless.

anon, while I share your passionate dislike of mirrorless what you're saying is delusional. Mirrorless has an edge when it comes to video so they make "better" hybrid cameras. You don't need to use the rear LCD when you have an always-on EVF. The EVF is also a good crutch for the exposure and focus deficient crowd that requires zooming in for critical focus and exposure simulation because they're too stupid to use a meter needle or AE so they'd much rather look at pixels that give your eyes fatigue instead of through the lens.
