I hauled around a 7D for a long time and fuck, the lighter camera is just so much more usable. I guess at that point I could just be using my phone, but there's nothing like a decent prime lens.
on topic I guess, I remember the 7D sucking at night despite the sensor, and the weight made it a lot harder to do any slightly longer exposures without a tripod, so you have to carry around a duffel bag of shit. It was the difference between going out solely to get a couple photos and go home, vs casually carrying a digital camera and taking pictures as the opportunity arises, going about your day as usual. Again, I guess, the phone would work too.
Maybe stick to the phone OP, just use it until you start to feel limitations that you'd like to surpass, otherwise you won't appreciate what you're paying for anyways.
